COVID MOONSHOT FUNDED BY COVID-19 THERAPEUTICS ACCELERATOR TO RAPIDLY DEVELOP A SAFE, GLOBALLY ACCESSIBLE AND AFFORDABLE ANTIVIRAL PILL​

We’re thrilled to report that the COVID Moonshot has been awarded a $10M grant from the Wellcome Trust on behalf of the World Health Organization (WHO) Access to COVID Tools (ACT) Accelerator program supporting a global effort to fight COVID-19. This funding will enable the Moonshot to rapidly complete its final stages of lead optimization and perform the preclinical studies needed to reach the equivalent of Investigational New Drug (IND) filings to begin clinical trials.

We are proud to be members of the COVID Moonshot consortium. With a lofty aim to contribute to the development of a safe, globally accessible and affordable antiviral medication.

As countries locked down due to the pandemic, a group of scientists, academics, pharmaceutical research teams and students began a worldwide race against the clock to identify new drug molecules that could block the SARS-CoV-2 infection and develop an antiviral drug that would be globally affordable and easily-manufactured. Diamond is a collaborator of this project, which includes academic and industrial groups from around the world.
