I've entered the team in the WCG Kill the Cancer Challenge, created by BOINC.Italy.

MCM has always been one of my preferred WCG projects so this has particular appeal to me. Let's help advance this important research.

I won't have time for much prep but will start rolling machines over tomorrow.

If you're new to WCG make sure to opt-in for your stats to count, not just for the challenge but also the overall ranking.

Log in -> Settings (upper right) -> Data Sharing -> Display My Data and Save.

I believe this has started. If my understanding is correct, it started at 00:00 UTC time which was 7:00PM Eastern. I think WCG stats only export every 12 hours at noon and midnight so it will take a little time for the standings to populate. Nothing to do now but crunch on! Let's have fun and advance science!

That's correct. And team challenges only update once per day, so don't expect to see anything until after this evening's update.

I put in a small bunker and have everything going on it.

Just reported 562 WU, missed the first day deadline but they'll show up in tomorrows totals.
I have 25 threads running for the duration of the event. They're not the latest and greatest CPUs but they're all crunch'n.

Awesome! I found out about this challenge on Twitter, too late to do any bunkering. I emailed the WCG team and have been actively promoting this on Twitter so hopefully we have a respectable showing. Stats have populated for the first day.

Two days in and we've moved up a spot from 18th to 17th. Not bad at all! Twitter tells me this is already more productive than all MCM challenges last year!

The challenge is over and the numbers are in. We earned 17th overall, gaining 11,037,101 of 619,356,579 total credit which is 1.78% of the total.

Congrats to P3DNow! for winning, earning 88,298,524 credits for 14.26% of the total. Of course the real winner is the project.

I'll send a message to the team as well, congrats to all participants!

Well done all! Always tough to get good participation when a challenge is limited to a specific sub-project, but we put in a great showing.

It didn't help that I only saw this mentioned on Twitter a couple days before it started so I didn't have time to prepare or notify the team. All things considered we did pretty well.
