I have been looking for a project that utilizes my "new" Intel E5-2420 V2 processor (soon to be two processors). NFS@Home appears to be the place for processors with good Dhrystone performance, that is a processor that is much better at integer calculations and not good at floating point math. My processor benchmarked 38668 integer MIPS (Dhrystone) per CPU, but only 2678 floating point MIPS (Whetstone) per CPU (38.69 billion ops/sec versus 2.66 billion ops/sec).
Edit: Without hyperthreading, the benchmarks are
It pays to know your hardware and your project.
