Version 7.8.2 of the BOINC client has been released for Windows and Mac OS X.
7.8.2 is not recommended. There are multiple reports of crashes and other severe problems especially for Mac and Linux users.

It turns out the problem is actually a project problem (CPDN) and not exactly a BOINC problem.
There are still some problems in 7.8.2. I believe David was working on a 7.8.3 release to fix some of them but it isn't ready for testing yet...
It seems like a rushed release. I don't like upgrading software in general, unless there is a specific problem that I need fixed. There is risk of alienating new BOINC users with these buggy releases though.
Is there any benefit to upgrading to a newer BOINC client? I'm running 7.6.22 on my machines without any issues.
In my opinion no, unless there is a significant bug that needs fixed or a new feature you need for a project. The best example I can think of for that was BU a couple years ago.
